Compact Camera – Canon PowerShot G10

Do you want a DSLR shooting quality on a compact digital camera? If so, then the G10 is your choice.

Canon PowerShot G10, the successor of its brother – the PowerShot G9. Like the G9, it has a conventional design and is suitable for photographers who want shooting capability equivalent to point-and-shoot and Digital SLR cameras.

The G10 still supports RAW mode for maximum image control. But it has better resolution, up to 14.7 megapixel (CCD sensor) and larger LCD screen, 3″ Pure Color LCD 11. And the most-awaited feature, the use of wide-angle lens (28mm) with a 5x optical zoom, which is very good for photographing interior in a narrow space.

Meanwhile, on the inside, the G10 has a DIGIC IV image processor. This processor allows the use of Servo AF – a continuous focus tracking on fast moving object. By half-pressing the shutter button, the camera can track object’s movement until its final exposure, so that the images taken look clearer and sharper.

The PowerShot G10 is advanced with Intelligent Contrast Correction (i-Contrast) function, which automatically corrects the image quality in high contrast areas as well as boosts brightness and retains detail in dark areas. Besides it, this digital camera has also improved its Face Detection technology with a new FaceSelf-Timer feature. This feature allows easy group shots on the G10 by automatically triggering the shutter shortly after a new face has entered the frame. In addition, the G10 also supports .MOV movie format and bundles digital photo professional software for RAW image editing.
